Windsurfing: Newgale Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 11 Sea Temperature: OK Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Wind quite onshore and light and I was undecided until I saw another
windsurfer way downwind. He was planing so I gave it a go. Got out through
the waves on second attempt, planing some of the time, gybed round and was
anticipating a good ride in - wrong, could not get planing as the waves and
wind were not combining to give a push. Looked back and saw a big one and
it took me down. Long swim in, a long way down wind, walked back upwind.
Cut finger, very minor, but kept bleeding with the water on it, blood all
over hand and kit.
Messed around in the shallows and was about to pack up when wind swung dead
onshore and picked up. I could plane in both directions parallel with the
shore - lovely smooth water, big gaps between waves. Flat out blasting and
gybing until it was nearly dark - made it all worth while.
